As reported this week, Ford has issued a recall on Ford Escape, Lincoln Corsair, and Ford Maverick pickup hybrid models for fears the vehicles may easily catch fire. This is the second fire-related recall in two months for Ford. Dealers are being asked to delay delivery of these vehicles to customers until they are repaired, and Ford will also send out recall letters the week of Aug. 8 to customers who have purchased faulty units.

We wanted to see which states might have the most of these hot potato models after this latest recall. This data looks at the model level, not the trim level, so not all of these units will need the fix. However, this should give us a decent idea of which dealerships will need to hang on to this inventory for a while, and where the most recalls will happen:

States with the most current inventory of Escapes are:

Texas (1166 units)

New York (876 units)

Florida (863 units)

Pennsylvania (666 units)

Illinois (657 units)

States that have recently sold Escapes may have an influx of recalled vehicles to their service centers. Those states include:

Michigan (912 recently sold units)

New York (644 recently sold units)

Texas (470 recently sold units)

Ohio (414 recently sold units)

Florida (408 recently sold units)

For Mavericks, the numbers are a little lower. States with the most current inventory of Mavericks are:

Texas (164 units)

Florida (159 units)

California (154 units)

Pennsylvania (143 units)

Missouri (78 units)

States with recently sold Mavericks include:

California (245 recently sold units)

Florida (188 recently sold units)

Texas (184 recently sold units)

Michigan (183 recently sold units)

Georgia (172 recently sold units)

Finally, looking at Lincoln Corsairs, the states with the most current inventory are:
