Dallas, Texas is about to see an influx of car dealers, industry leaders, and experts as the NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association) Conference kicks off this week. Dealer Trade Network will be in attendance, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with other industry professionals and learn about the latest trends and developments in the automotive industry. We hope to see you there! We thought it would be a great time to highlight some new car inventory statistics and trends for Texas.

Texas is a truck-loving state. The top two selling vehicles in the state for the last 30 days are the Ford F-150 (4269 sold) and the Chevy Silverado 1500 (3838 sold). You’ll notice the below chart shows plenty of supply in the state for all high-selling truck and SUV models:

Another trend of note is the growing interest in electric and hybrid vehicles. In 2021, a total of 416,200 electric or hybrid electric vehicles were registered in the state. As of 2022, Texas was behind only California and Florida for the number of Electric Vehicle Registrations (Alternative Fuels Data Center, Alternative Fuels Data Center: Maps and Data – Electric Vehicle Registrations by State (energy.gov)). This growth in EV use may be due in no small part to the completion of Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory in 2022. Currently there are 5,926 public electric ports in Texas.

Overall, the new car market in Dallas seems to be strong, with high demand for and availability of trucks and SUVs, and a growing interest in electric and hybrid vehicles. With a large number of dealerships and a wide variety of vehicles to choose from, Dallas is a great place to buy a new car—and a great place for this year’s NADA Conference.
