Our software monitors all new vehicle movement in the United States, including new car trade activity. For this New Vehicle Weekly Trade Activity report, we take our data set and hone in on the most popular vehicles traded this past week among America’s three largest auto groups:
- AutoNation Inc.
- Penske Automotive Group Inc.
- Lithia Motors Inc.
This past week there seemed to be a greater number of stores trading vehicles, which seems to have lead to some new models entering the top traded list.
Jeep made up 11.97% of traded vehicles among the above mentioned auto groups. However, Jeep did not have a model and trim level in the top three most traded list below.

2022 Cadillac Escalade ESV – Premium Luxury
The Cadillac Escalade ESV, Premium Luxury trim level was tied for the most traded new vehicle model and trim among the top three auto groups this past week.
The Premium Luxury trim level is one step above the Escalade ESV’s entry trim level, and comes with a 6 year/70,000 mile Powertrain Limited Warranty.

2022 Mini Cooper Countryman – S
The Mini Countryman, S trim level enters the list this week tied for the most traded model and trim level over the past seven days. The S trim level is the mid-tier trim level for the Countryman and comes with a 4 year / 50,000 mile limited warranty, as well as a 3 year / 36,000 mile comprehensive maintenance plan.

2021 Mazda CX-5 – Grand Touring
SUVs and Crossover SUVs were the most traded vehicle types this week as the Mazda CX-5, Grand Touring trim level rounds out this week’s list of top traded makes, models, and trims. The Grand Touring trim level is one of the CX-5’s upper tier trim levels and comes with a 5 year / 60,000 mile powertrain warranty.
